Our history

The Old Ox Chamber Orchestra (formerly aurora chamber orchestra) is an international Chamber Orchestra that has emerged from Old Ox perennial festivals in western Sweden. The orchestra has performed at concert halls in some 20 locations in Sweden and national and international festivals and halls.

Old Ox Chamber Orchestra is a carefully selected group of 15 international musicians, visionary leaders, leading soloists and skilled actors who operate in Old Ox Chamber Music’s global network and production spanning 16 years and 51 festivals.

Old Ox Chamber Orchestra has a long history of creative collaborations with legendary leaders from the classical music scene such as Terje Tønnesen and Gordan Nikolic who through their rich artistic leadership create unique concepts and concerts

The orchestral programs and concerts challenge boundaries in classical music and often seek exciting collaborations with actors, soloists and composers in pursuit of an endless stream of creativity and passion, capturing the imagination of both faithful and new audiences.

Old Ox Chamber Orchestra has in a short time performed in Sweden’s leading, both traditional and non-traditional concert halls with acclaimed concerts together with international stars such as The Swedish Chamber Orchestra. Mischa Maisky, Elisabeth Leonskaya, Camilla Tilling, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Truls Mørk, Isabelle van Keulen , Torleif Thedéen, Jukka- Pekka Saraste, Peter Jablonski, John Lundgren.

These concerts have also been characterized by Old Ox Chamber Orchestra’s collaboration with actors such as Stina Eklbad, Stefan Sauk, Reine Brynolfsson, Elin Klinga and Magnus Roosmann, and Samuel Fröler and presenters such as Camilla Lundberg and Ulrika Knutson, which has resulted in artistic concepts that have been received with great enthusiasm by both the public and the media.
