European Masterclasses & Akademifestivalen – Stockholm 2025

The royal college of music in Stockholm

The course and festival will take place on the premises of the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.
The course is also part of the Royal College of Music’s ”Additional Training Programs” that provides participating students 7.5 ECTS credits.

The festival with master classes is a unique opportunity to receive advice for your further musical and career development, to perform with outstanding soloists and conductors in some of Sweden’s most important concert halls, as well as expanding and developing your international network.

The masterclasses take place as part of the Akademifestivalen Stockholm where you will have free entrance to concerts and events.

Take risks, inspire audiences, meet people and have fun.
Become an integral part of a performing arts community of which many of the worlds most important performers are also members.
Over 8 000 amazing young artists from over 50 countries have participated in these our masterclasses and festivals since 2006.

Course content

  • 2 x 45 min individual open masterclasses
  • 3-5 x 45 min  open class
  • 2-8 x 45 min chamber music coaching and/or symphony orchestra
  • 2 x 45 min seminars and mental training
  • all students perform at the sold out Academy Festival held at the Royal CollegeImportant – Repertoire/ Ensemble/Orchestra/DivisionSEE HERE

Course period: At Campus KMH August 18-23, 2025
Course preparation 15 July-17 August (from home) before the meeting at KMH Campus in Stockholm on 18 August

Course fee for citizen of the European Union (EU):
0 EUR

Course fee for citizen from outside of the European Union (EU):
3000 EUR

How to apply

To simplify and clarify the management of the registration and application process, we have introduced new procedures, in 3 separate steps,
that will make the process easier and more efficient compared to previous years.

  1. Registration at Universityadmissions.se

To participate in this course, you must first register on Universityadmissions.se, which is the website where you register for courses at Sweden’s universities and colleges.
Here you create a personal account where all your information is collected and reviewed. This must first be done BEFORE you can register for the course.
In the registration you need to attach this:

  • A copy of your passport or identity card.

If you have citizenship in a EU/EEA country, or Switzerland, you must document your citizenship to be exempt from application and tuition fees.

  • Documentation of your earlier studies.

You need to provide documentation of at least 30 completed credits from higher music education.
That means you shall submit your transcript with courses and grades, officially issued from your university.

March 31 – Registration for Antagning.se opens.
Here, qualification, nationality, fee liability or not are proven. Here you attach a copy of passport and certificate of at least 30 ECTS credits (no recording etc)

May 9 – Last day of registration on Antagning.se.
NB! Only those who have been registered with Universityadmissions.se on time and who, after review, have been deemed qualified will be able to proceed to the next step Application

  1. Application for European Master Classes

20 May – Application tool opens
Everyone who has been deemed qualified in the registration at Universityadmissions.se will now recieve a new invitaion from the management for you to officially apply for the course. Includes your personal information, CV and recording.

30 May Application deadline
The course management and professors go through all the applications and draw up a list of admitted and reserve students

10 June – Selection list is published
All those who have been registered will be informed about who has been admitted and who is on the waiting list

  1. Confirm

June 15 – Last day to confirm.
Those selected will receive an e-mail from Universityadmissions.se stating that they accept their place on the course or not. If you do not confirm in this way in time, the place is automatically moved to the waiting list.
NB! It is important, before you do this step, that you first checked/booked good travel and accommodation options during the course.

June 16 – Waiting list
Here, any reserves are called in and those places must then be confirmed as early as June 18

  • If you already have an account on universityadmissions.se, please use the same one and do not make a new account.
